The Kolpa and water adventures

A stone’s throw from the house, the Kolpa winds beneath Kučar hill — at up to 28 °C in summer, it is Slovenia’s warmest river. From Metlika to Vinica, along some 30 km, it is lined with bathing spots, restaurants and places for sports.

In summer, rafting and canoeing on the Kolpa are hugely popular — we will gladly organise a trip for you. Anglers can try the Kolpa and the Lahinja, or the Prilozje pond for carp.

Cycling

The mostly flat countryside is a joy for every cyclist — six of our bikes are at your disposal, two with electric assist, and the Kolpa bathing spots are just a five-minute ride away.

Seasoned riders will enjoy the climbs to nearby Mirna gora (about 30 km) or the Gorjanci hills (20 km).

Hiking and the birch groves

Or perhaps you simply want to wander the quiet paths between our fields and through the lovely groves we call steljniki — birch stands with ferns, the quiet symbol of Bela krajina.

We know the area inside out and gladly point you to the most beautiful routes — from a stroll below Kučar to full-day hikes.

Wine and vineyard cottages

We recommend visiting the wine country near Metlika — the villages of Drašiči, Radovica and Slamna vas — where family-run farms serve local dishes alongside wines of their own making, medal winners on the international stage.

A rich selection of excellent local wines, sparkling ones included, awaits you at Ana’s too.

Local cuisine

Treat your taste buds to organic food from local farms — or straight from the residence’s garden — from belokranjska pogača flatbread to dishes cooked over an open fire on the terrace. Larger groups are well taken care of, too.

We will happily prepare a picnic feast with food and drinks to your liking, and a few homely inns with excellent food await nearby.

Festivals of Bela krajina

Bela krajina knows how to celebrate: in June, Črnomelj comes alive with Jurjevanje, Slovenia’s oldest folklore festival; in May, Metlika fills up for the Vinska vigred wine festival; and in summer, village picnics and a carnival take to the Kolpa.

We will tell you what is on during your stay and arrange transport if you wish.
